IHF: Vroom Vroom

Its been awhile since I have participated in I Heart Faces. Y'all have seen this before, but I adore it, so I am trotting it out again :)

K and her "security blanket". She doesn't leave home without it. Seriously. And obviously footed pjs and rainboots are this season's jeggings with knee highs:

I Heart Faces: Purple

Purple is the name of the game over at I Heart Faces this week. I went back a bit in the archives for this photo of my niece, S, in her awesome purple snowsuit. Its kind of fun to remember all that snow from not too long ago while we bask in the hot summer weather.

I Heart Faces: Over my Head

Over at I Heart Faces this week, the theme is "over my head". To capture this, I was drizzling flower petals above her so she would look up and smile ( you can see the speck of one just above and to the right).

Exposure Time:1/400
Aperture:f/4
ISO:800
Focal Length:50mm (75mm in 35mm)

edited in GIMP - brightened and adjusted curves, ran slight USM

I Heart Faces Challenge: Play

Play is the name of the game (har har) over at I Heart Faces this week. I feel like the submissions over recent weeks have really kicked it up a notch, and to be honest, I find it hard to feel like I stack up. But, I can't grow if I don't push, right?
For this one I went back a bit in the archives. This was last August, so K was 8ish months? She wasn't walking yet, but was nearly there. We took her out with us for an easy 9 holes, and got her to begin practicing. We figure if she turns pro, she can keep us in the lifestyle we wish to become accustomed to. Michelle Wah (sp?) watch out!

I Heart Faces Challenge: Barefoot

Its Tuesday, and that means I Heart Faces weekly challenge! This one is for funesies, but that doesn't mean its not serious business. They are hoping to raise awareness about a wonderful charity, Souls 4 Soles:

About Soles 4 Souls: Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 7 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 9 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States.
So the theme this week, is Barefoot! This is great, because one of my favourite things is photographing feet. Mom thinks I am obsessed :)
Since its a non-competition week, we can post more then one photo. Here are two of my recent faves.

K showing off her new rainboots:

K and her cousin S frolicking together in the grass. I love how they are stepping in unison:

I Heart Faces Challenge: Smiles

Who doesn't love a good smile? Over at I <3 Faces this week, you can literally see hundreds of them. Sure helps to pass a dreary, rainy Tuesday.
Here is my addition, taken earlier this month of my growing-too-fast-not really-a-baby-anymore baby. Showing off her almost full mouth of teeth!

I Heart Faces Challenge: Dramatic B&W

Another week, another great I♥Faces challenge. this time, they are looking for black and white shots that are "dramatic, moody or  sensational in their presentation". I hope you feel the one below fits the bill.

I am generally terrible at B&W conversion, so you may be asking yourself, why bother? Because I am an attention whore, and I love to show off this picture :) This was taken as part of a board photo challenge entitled "lifelines". I actually got the idea from an even earlier challenge, whereby a poster requested hand photos with inspirational words/phrases on them. She had a wonderful friend/wife/mother named Anissa Mayhew, who was battling back from a debilitating stroke. So she asked us all to "give Anissa a hand". At the time I couldn't get my photo together, and was very excited when I had the opportunity to try the technique again. (Side note: to view Anissa's back story and see the final product, go here. Bring tissues.)
